Well the politicos are gearing up. A running mate has been chosen by the GOP hopeful for 2012. The blustering and chest pounding will be as it always is. Both sides will boast that they are the righteous one and the other has a plan that will lead to ultimate disaster. Fear mongering at it’s best.
Extreme points of view will be pointed out by each side. Both sides will make fantastical claims that they can fix “it!” Be ready to listen to the words... “We can fix it... BUT only with your help.” Please note that neither side will stipulate whose help they need they will say with “your help.” That means everybody’s help. “Everybody...” United we stand, divided we're failing.
If the nation remains divided forget about fixing things. Forget it. Look at recent history... How much has changed for the better in the last decade? This is not a tough history assignment. Especially for those over the age of say 25. (I say 25 for arguments sake.)
As a nation we are/ were given daily reports to remain calm. Unless of course there was some sort of amber alert. Then of course we were/ are told to be vigilant. Vigilant for what?
Well it could be any monstrous image one could draw from childhood imagery to some sort of a apocalyptic religious sacrifice.
Question are we not still here? Still here fussing from day to day, about how the other side doesn’t understand and how our side is better if only the other side would listen?
I have wondered about these things often... remember Y2K??? Uhhh??? ( Do you feel a bit foolish bout’ now if in fact you were one of those who bought into that theory?) You shouldn’t. Just understand and hopefully learn that hype is used all the time to evoke... Profit.
“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.” Kurt Vonnegut said that. I shall take it one step further.
“It’s true terror to wake up one morning to find that your peers didn’t learn a God Damn thing from the previous generations mistakes. Instead they welcomed the same insanity that has lead us to the here and now.” CJH
To me, that illustrates absolute apathy, ignorance and an absolute willingness to continue the insanity to pass along to the next generation. That is true terror. Shame on you all who ignored and continue to ignore the past. More importantly while you piss and moan about the present.
I can espouse hope and give off the words that sound lovely... Or I can rummage around in the historical closets that have dusty old notions of truth. Truth??? Truth is a commodity that is not in large supply amongst humans who have little nor any trust of others. Lies by omission half truths seems to be the norm. Human nature is not changing much.
There are those who think they can lead. There are those who wish they could lead, and there are those lining up outside the doors looking to be lead. Lead into an utopian dream like fantasy of ecstasy.
Truth is like it or not, “We all breathe the same air...” JFK In that air there those who draw each breath with only the idea of window dressing, a fantasy of what tomorrow might bring.
It is always much easier to look to the horizon, and complain about the moment at hand. I think that the moment at hand is much easier to deal with shoulder to shoulder. Not wagging fingers and screeching at the neighbor across the fence.
Of course I still have some idealism for the human, then again that is wearing thin. Perhaps my cynical side has had too much time to grow?
I truly wonder if the “United States of America” will ever truly unite despite what side wins?
